Cotton Scrubs vs. Cotton Blend Scrubs
Scrubs are popular healthcare apparel because they are lightweight and, when the correct size is worn, unrestrictive. Everyone knows that, after comfortable shoes, nothing is more important than nurse apparel that gives you freedom of movement. Also making scrubs popular is their affordability, plus they come in a plentitude of colors and prints, and are wrinkle resistant and durable. Most scrubs are not made of a liquid resistant material so they should be covered by nursing lab coats when you expect to be doing a job where you'll be splashed with fluids. Holiday medical scrubs are also a great way to celebrate the season while still staying within the guidelines of healthcare uniforms.
One of the most important factors that makes scrubs the most popular articles of healthcare apparel is how easily they are laundered. Most scrubs are 100% cotton, or are cotton- polyester blends, that are machine washable. Cherokee scrubs, and a few others, have introduced denim scrubs, sateen stretch scrubs, and fleece types of materials for wider variety and warmth but all of these materials are also machine washable.
Some recent studies have shown that pure
cotton scrubs and nursing lab coats are more desirable because they resist spreading bacterial strains more but the difference between pure cottons and cotton blends are small. Cotton blends tend to resist wrinkling more, and shrink less after repeated washing and drying.
